These are height adjustable which simply means that you can remove the silver ring to make the handle slightly shorter. The hot water that passes through the coffee will do so too quickly and you will result in a weak under-extracted coffee. I took it apart more out if interest, and was going to put the strongest spring in, but the coffee has been very good so just left it as is. This one is has a similar shaped handle to the Edesia tamper above, but a slightly more standard shaped base – and comes with a tamper mat, for the tamper to sit in.
