About this deal

Fireborn is a middle grade fantasy that revolves around a flawed and friendless young girl, Twelve, who happens to be quite good with a pair of axes. The world-building blazes with richness and depth and really immersed me in Ember from the walled Hunting Lodge to the Frozen Forest where huntlings become fully-fledged Hunters. This is a fast-paced fantastical adventure that follows Twelve, who has given up her life to the Hunting Lodge, where people train to become hunters.

Along the way of their mission they discover things about themselves and meet lots of creatures that they could never have imagined. Ebooks fulfilled through Glose cannot be printed, downloaded as PDF, or read in other digital readers (like Kindle or Nook). I also loved the monsters and the goblins becasue they were written very well and were suitably evil, which means that they posed a great challenge to Twelve and the hunters. I was sad to reach the end but was happy that I had been taken on a road of mayhem, tension, bravery, and friendship. Dog is fantastic, and you can’t help but feel for him as the ‘designated adult’ trying to ride herd on a group of children, especially one that struggles to get along.Plus there are two animal companions who have such wonderfully different personalities and add so much to the story and the group but in very different ways. Da sie dann alleine war ging sie zu Loge um sich als eine Jägerin ausbilden zu lassen ohne eine Jägerin werden zu wollen. He is annoying, he is a loud mouth and is insensitive to most things around him, but I did enjoy his arc. The plot is perfectly paced with a satisfying balance of fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat action and character building and interaction. Despite not liking her character at first, it wasn’t long before I started to enjoy both her and the other characters in the story.

Fireborn is a fantastic read, exciting and gripping from start to finish, and I would recommend it to everyone regardless of their age. The only problem is, I just kept thinking ‘one more chapter’ and then before you know it you’ve read loads! Each section finishes with an activity to do when you get home: plant wild flowers, make a bird feeder, try pond dipping, make a journey stick and build a terrarium. These children go to the lodge for various reasons, a lot because they are unwanted/abandoned by their families and some because their families are sadly dead and they feel they have nowhere else to go. I loved that we were kept guessing for so long, but with so many beasties to battle along the way you don't have too much time to sit and decipher exactly what's going on.
