About this deal

Finally, most of them are extremely good looking. Even if they’re not attractive in the traditional sense with a handsome, symmetrical face, the majority of them have a raw magnetism that draws people in—specifically women. There’s always a crowd around them, mostly female, though the guys on campus idolize them as well. No matter where they go, they’re surrounded. Even mobbed sometimes. It’s wild. Glancing up at the guy, I immediately note that he’s decent looking, which is…interesting. I haven’t really noticed a guy’s looks in a while. Playing Hard To Get is a classic tutoring trope mixed with an obsessed guy and a little bit of friends for lovers. Knox was absolutely smitten with Joanna from the start, and it was adorable to see this cinnamon roll (with a slightly dirty side) fall in love. I loved Joanna and her no-nonsense attitude – she kept Knox on his toes. Refusing to be an afterthought in Knox’s life, she really did learn something about herself. Yet Knox is impossible to resist. Next thing I know, we're getting hot and heavy in the library—and that was never part of the plan. When Knox admits he can't stop thinking about me, I have a realization. While she had always written in other romance genres, she knew she had found her groove in new adult. These are now some of her favorite novels to write.

I attend Colorado University and our college football team is made up of the most popular guys on campus. The Golden Eagles are loved. They are revered. When the fall semester starts, they’re all anyone talks about: every single conversation, everywhere you turn. The day after their games, where they almost always win? Knox is quite an easy-going, easy-going guy who felt uncomfortable at the start of his senior year. An injury early in his college football career looms, as does a class Knox has feared throughout his college career: English. Knox struggles with reading and writing and realizes early on that she will need help with her classes. There he meets Joanna, who has just separated. Her longtime boyfriend has cheated on her and for the first time Joanna is ready to explore singleness and maybe she can enjoy single life with a certain handsome and charming football player. Second, they’re just so dang loud. They enter a building, a room, the quad, the football field (well, that’s a given), and everyone notices them. Not only because of who they are, but they deliberately make a scene, like they want the attention. They talk, they yell, they cause a commotion everywhere they go and everyone looks upon them with awe. Monica began writing new adult romances as an experiment. Growing up and even as an adult, she always read new adult fiction and always thought why can I not write something like that?

i loved this book. you could see they were gone for each other from the vary start, but i would have like to see how they handled Knox getting drafted, how things changed, what challenges they faced. the reason i gave this book 4 stars instead of 5 was because i feel like the book cut off right in the middle of their story, these characters had so much more to give and go through together. it felt like there should have been a sequel. Instead of keeping my distance, I pull him closer. Until we kind of spend all our time together and I fall in love with Knox. Difficult. Being truthful gets me attention I don’t want. Because I don’t watch the game. I never watch the game.

For the readers who read Owen Maguire’s romance story, Knox and Blair are his children. But if you haven’t read that story, there is no need to read that first.) It is a fine story that continues to follow the cliched but topical theme but with an original and very unique air. Fable and Drew make for a lovable couple who between them have so much strength and love that makes for a hot story with intense chemistry. It was just so good. Also he voluntarily listened to one of her romance audiobooks - Where can I get myself one of those?!?! This is such a light-hearted, sweet romance book, but I didn't fall in love with it. It was a cute story and super easy read, but I feel like there wasn't much plot to it, and I didn't really connect with the characters. Fresh out of a breakup, I don't really trust him, and why should I? Knox is the ultimate player. When I become his English tutor, I tell myself we need to keep things between us strictly business. Watching my mother deal with my ex-athlete father long, long ago taught me to stay far away from that type of man.

Monica Murphy’s novel “Second Chance Boyfriend” is set two months following the events of the debut novel of the series. Drew had brought her into his fake life but while they had some good time she later found out that he was hiding some dark secrets. Playing hard to get’ might be a ‘sweet’ story with no drama but it had some steamy and hot sex scenes in it. The story’s told from both POV’s. Playing Hard to Get featured Knox, the schools bad boy who takes a pledge of celibacy so he can focus on football. What he doesn’t expect is bookstore worker Joanna who just got out of a three year relationship that ended badly. Suffice to say it doesn’t take long until he’s head over heels. I wouldn’t say it’s a ‘he falls first’ trope, but that being said, he fell HARD and FAST, and it just made my little heart so happy. One Week Girlfriend” by Monica Murphy tells of Fable Maguire and Drew Callahan who come from very different worlds but do seem like they have a lot in common.

I’m so happy that I decided to read ‘Playing hard to get’, it was just what I was looking for. A sweet, well written new adult story with no drama and wonderful characters. It was a very pleasant read and I’m looking forward to reading more stories in this new series. I really loved Joanna’s personality and her in general. I felt a kinship with Joanna in that I also love to stay in, get comfy, and spend my day reading! That’s my soul sister right there! Plus just like her, I don’t really care much for sports, but like if I had a man such as, Knox inviting me to his football game then… I could possibly be persuaded to become a full fledged sports fanatic *wink, wink. Joanna had a sweetest to her that was endearing and obviously Knox loved that about her since he was completely obsessed with her. Even the way Joanna took it upon herself to help Knox with his dyslexia, and providing him all the necessary tools to help him in class was sweet. Colin is feeling guilty as he never kept some promises he made and also one that he is trying to atone for. He had once promised Danny his best friend that he would take care of Jen if anything happened to him. The latest book in the Lincoln Lawyer series comes out this month. This will be the 7th book in that series, and the 41st book in the Bosch Universe. Harry Bosch also plays a big part in this book. It was a good one, huh.” He says it as a statement, not a question. He flat out assumes that I watched it and loved every minute of it. Because…who wouldn’t? How could a member of the student bodynotspend their Saturday watching the game?

Joanna (or Jo) is an introvert "smart girl" who works at the college bookshop part time & prefers to stay in with books then go out to the crazy college parties. With her high school boyfriend attending college in another state, she chooses to focus on her studies. Until said boyfriend suddenly ends their 3 year relationship for another woman. This turns Jo into more of an introvert. I barely look up as the customer asks the question that’s on everyone’s tongue this Monday. I work at the campus bookstore, and while I love my job, I don’t love these types of questions. The secondary characters were great too, you had Knox’s younger sister Blair, his roommate Cam and Joanna’s roommate Natalie and her colleague in the bookstore Leon. All the characters were loyal and supportive. They were all great friends and I’m looking forward to their stories. One day she just had an idea that grabbed her by the throat and would not let go. She began writing it and just could not stop and this would ultimately result in “One Week Girlfriend.”
